Burak Akbay (the-then CEO of Estetik Publishing)
Born in 1971 in Istanbul, Burak Akbay attended the American College of Switzerland. His first business was starting a newspaper printing press. He founded Sözcü newspaper in 2007. He owns all the shares of Estetik Yayıncılık A.Ş., the company that publishes the newspaper 'Sözcü' as well as its website sozcu.com.tr. Until he resigned in 2016, he was the Chair of the Executive Board of Estetik Yayıncılık. However, he still appears to be the grant holder of the newspaper. He is also the head of the Board of Directors of BAK Medya ve Yayıncılık Hizmetleri A.Ş. company, which was registered in the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette in July 2016 under the category 'television broadcasting'.
Sözcü newspaper, Korkusuz newspaper, GırGır, Sözcü TV and sozcu.com.tr transferred to Beme Media A.G, which was established in Switzerland in 2019.
