Born in 1959 in Trabzon, Nuri Albayrak, brother of Ahmet and Bayram Albayrak, is a shareholder - along with his brothers - of Albayrak Yayın Holding A.Ş. which owns Yeni Şafak newspaper, seven magazines and two TV channels. He's also the Head of the Board of Directors of Tümosan Savunma Sanayi̇ A.Ş. which took a 190 million Euro tender to construct tanks for the Ministry of National Defence in 2015. He's known to have close ties with Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the two attended İstanbul İmam Hatip high school together in the 70s, Erdoğan was Nuri Albayrak's daughter's wedding witness in 2002 and attended his son's engagement ceremony in 2012. Nuri Albayrak was a member of Gaziosmanpaşa Municipal Council and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipal Council from 1994 to 2004. He was the president of Istanbul Municipality Sports Club from 2002 until 2005, and then the president of Trabzonspor football club from 2005 to 2008. In the late 2000s, Güneş Albayrak Turizm, where Nuri Albayrak was the Head of the Board of Directors, took major tenders from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and Istanbul Water and Sewage Administration (İSKİ). Albayrak group is known to have close ties to the ruling AK Parti and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The group has taken dozens of public tenders especially since the mid 90s, some of which were subject to claims and investigations of corruption.

Adem Altunsoy is Nuri Albayrak's son in law. In late 2000s his company his firm Platform Turizm has won various public tenders from İstanbul Municipality and (İSKİ) such as one in 2009 worth close to 30 million Turkish Liras.
