Aydın Doğan

Aydın Doğan

Aydın Doğan is the founder and honorary chairman of Doğan Holding. He founded his first industrial company in 1974. He became a publisher with the acquisition of Milliyet in 1979 and later of Hürriyet in 1994. He established Aydın Doğan Foundation in 1996. He was hit with a record $2.5bn tax fine, slashing its shares down 20 per cent after a year-long confrontation with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. After Erdoğan went online on Doğan Media's CNN Türk during the coup attempt (15 July 2015), and called the people of Turkey to the streets to resist the military, relations between the government and the company seemed to get smoother.
