Show TV was founded in 1991 by Erol Aksoy. It was the second private TV channel in Turkey after Star TV. Turgay Ciner, the current owner, leads a mega corporation with investments in media, mining, energy, real estate and tourism.

Born in 1946 in Denizli, Erol Aksoy graduated as an electrical engineer from Massachussetts Institute of Technology in 1968 and completed his MBA at Harvard Business School. He worked in various banks until he bought İktisat Bank ('İktisat Bankası') in 1984, in the following years, he acquired majority shares of 'Banque Internationale de Commerce de Paris' and 'Park Avunue Bank', where he acted as CEO. In the 80s and 90s, he was among the founders of Show TV (Turkey's second private television channel), Cine 5 (the first subscription-based television channel in Turkey), Show Radyo and Sabah, Yeni Yüzyıl, Takvim newspapers. In 1992, he became one of the owners of Hürriyet newspaper, which was sold to Aydın Doğan in 1994. In the early 2000s, TMSF seized almost all of his companies because of İktisat Bank's debts.

Aynur Demirtaş graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Communication in 1989 and started her career in Hodri Meydan (TRT) news program. Then, she continued to work as a director in (Show TV) programs for 5 years. Continuing her career in TV series projects in production companies, Demirtaş took on the duties of General Coordinator, Script Writer and Project Designer, and later continued to work in various television channels as Program and Dramas Manager. Since December 2019, she has been working as an editor-in-chief at SHOW TV.
