Güneş was founded in 1982 by Ömer Çavuşoğlu and Ahmet Kozanoğlu, partners in various major construction and banking investments such as Hisarbank, daily Güneş was shut in the early 90s and changed hands many times, including the Ilıcak family, until being bought by the Çukurova Group in 1997.
